Highwoods string band documentary quiet

This post is dedicated to my friend Joel Specht. During one of the MANY tuning breaks, they asked the crowd to fill the time by telling their favorite quips about the old five-string. Joel told many that night. I've been trying to remember them, along with best ones I've heard over the years for when my son asks again, so I thought I'd make this list.

But the documentary's strength is the way the story was coaxed out of the band members themselves - Walt, Bob, Mac, Doug and Jenny. The film threaded contemporary interviews of the musicians into a great narrative, and wrapped that in old footage and stills of the band. Sometime after the DVDs are sold, the film will be uploaded to Folkstreams for online viewing, Also, the film is not-for-profit, labor of love. Proceeds simply help offset production costs. Thanks for spreading the word, Lew! If you were around in the Highwoods days, this film is a great reflection on a time gone by. And if you weren't around, this is a great story that connects directly to Old Time music as it exists today.

The Louisville Belvedere festival at this time was a world class Bluegrass event ,but the Highwoods held the crowd with their lone Old Tyme sound, double fiddles to boot,That DVD should make a great cabin fever remedy this winter. So this film contains footage of the Highwoods in Louisville on the Belvedere? I was there for that and had never heard anything like them.
